The Mid-Week League has been expanded to 10 teams now to play on a home and away basis
Therefore only Three mid-week friendly fixtures
Wed 14th SOPHIA GARDENS - F - Away - Result - Match cancelled the green in Cardiff deemed not fit to play on
Sat 17th PENTRYCH - Garth Cup - Home - Result - Won - 150 shots for - 82 shots against
We have started the season off in glorious weather, it's a change from playing in our wet suits
With only four rinks counting for the final score, we still had an avantage of a surplus of 41 shots to carry forward to our next match in September
Wed 21st St. PETER'S - F - Home - Result - Won - 70 shots for - 49 shots against
Again played in dry conditions but sad to say rather cold
Sat 24th ST. ALBAN'S - Alan Morris Cup - Home - Result - WON - 117 shots for - 102 shots against
Therfore we take a 15 shot advantage to St. Alban's when we play the return leg
We with ST. ALBAN'S help have instigated a new cup to be played for between ourselves and ST ALBAN'S
This is on a home and away basis
This cup is in memory of ALAN MORRIS. ALAN was from Ty-RHIW but played for ST. ALBAN'S
Wed 28th ST. JOSEPH'S - MWL - Away - Result - LOST - 55 shots for - 59 shots against. Only 4 points gained

Sat 8th PENYRHEOL - WBA - Home - Result - WON - 84 shots for - 69 shots against
Again beating a First division club this time in the WBA. We have two points plus a 15 shot advantage

Sat 15th FAIROAK - WBA - Away - Result - WON - 108 shots for - 60 shots against

Sat 29th VICTORIA PARK - F - Home - Result -
Much to my disgust I have had to cancel this match to play Cardiff in the WBA
Sat 29th CARDIFF Sophia Gardens - WBA - Home - Won - 91 shots for - 84 shots against
This match was played in awful conditions, the only good thing was, we WON this win giving us the full 6 points
The only team in our section to win all three matches. We are to play BUILTH WELLS on the 26th June
We are in the last 64 of this competition (the whole of Wales) who knows what may happen
This is where we will be playing against internationals and county players.
It will be a good experience for our newest members to hopefully to enjoy

JUNE

Wed 2nd ELY - MWL - Home - Result - WON - 90 shots for - 40.25 shots against. Thankfully 14 points gained
Sat 5th ST. JOSEPH’S - CML - Home - Result - WON - 76 shots for - 70 shots against. 12 points gained
An excellent result on our first CML fixture of the season
Wed 9th RUMNEY BUCK'S - MWL - Away - Result - WON - 68 shots for - 28.75 shots against. 12 points gained
Sat 12th YSTRAD MYNACH - CML - Away - Result - LOST - 76 shots for - 89 shots against. 4 points gained
Sadly we lost to Ystrad Mynach, it is normally a close game only 1 or 2 shots in the game, this time 13 shots
Although we managed to get 4 points from the game. Captain Lance Timothy is still confident we can do well in the CML
Wed 16th FAIRWATER - MWL - Away - Result - WON - 60 shots for - 57 shots against. Only gaining 9 points
We were lucky to win this match, with only one rink winning and another rink drawing, with two rinks losing
But a win a win no matter how it is achieved
Sat 19th GRANGE - CML - Home - Result - WON - 96 shots for - 67 shots against. The full 14 points gained
Captain Lance Timothy said this was a real shot in the arm, in our ambition to regain first division status
Wed 23rd ROATH PARK - MWL - Home - Result - WON - 83 shots for - 31 shots against. The full 14 points gained
Sat 26th FERNDALE - CML - Away - Result - This match has been cancelled
Because we are due to play Buith Wells in the last 64 in the Carruthers shield
The Match against Ferndale has been arranged for the Saturday 4th September
Sat 26th BUILTH WELLS - WBA - Home - Result - LOST - 66 shots for - 95 shots against
Sadly we were well beaten. Builth Wells deserved to go through, Good luck to Builth Wells in the next round
Captain Lance Timothy said I hope this will be a wake up call, we must up our game for next week
Wed 30th ST. JOSEPH'S - MWL - Home - Result - WON - 66 shots for - 63 against. 10 points gained
It's always a hard fought game against St. Joseph's but we managed to avenge the defeat
They inflicted on us at the start of the season. We must be near the top of the league with 105 points from 10 matches

JULY

Sat 3rd ST. ALBAN'S - CML - Home - Result - WON - 93 shots for - 58 shots against. The full 14 points gained
Again it is always a hard fought contest between us and St. Alban's, this time we had the upper hand
On reading the league web page we are top the division. This will mean our captain urging us on to greater things
Wed 7th HEATH - MWL - Away - Result - WON - 66 shots for - 50 shots against. 10 Points gained
Sat 10th COWBRIDGE - CML - Away - Result - LOST - 50 shots for - 123 shots against
Soundly beaten, but we like the majority of clubs in the CML league, hate playing on the Artifical Green
Because we only play on this surface once every two years, this surface makes a mockery of the game of bowls
It makes decent bowlers look like total beginners.
We started the weekend with a plus shots difference, but finished it with a minus one
Our Captain said that although disappointed we should not be DOWNHEARTED,
Stressing that we must get back to winning ways Next Saturday
When we entertain Millwood on our own green i.e. GRASS, not a carpet
Wed 14th FAIROAK - MWL - Home - Result - Won - 85 shots for - 38 shotd against.
An excellent result after the experience of Cowbridge back to winning ways the full 14 points gained
Sat 17th MILLWOOD - CML - Home - Result - WON - 99 shots for - 55 shots against. 11points gained
It has been good to get back to winning ways after the debacle that was Cowbridge.
At least we are now back on a natural surface i.e. Grass for the rest of the season
Another good result this will restore our shots for advantage
Wed 21st GRANGE - MWL - Away - Result - WON - 74 shots for - 71 shots against. 11 points gained
Sat 24th SENGHENYDD - CML - Away - Result - WON - 74 shots for - 69 shots against. 10 points gained
Wed 28th SPLOTT PHEONIX - MWL - Home - Result - WON - 72 shots for - 46.25 against. 12 points gained
Sat 31st ABERTRIDWR - CML - Home - Result - WON - 93 shots for - 62 shots against. The Maximum points 14 gained
At the moment we are on top of the league with 79 points
Perhaps Captain Lance Timothy's optimism and enthusiasm it at last rubbing off onto the rest of the team
With the rest of the team believing that we can win the league
We must not be to excited as we still have two games to go, both of these games are away
To teams with good chances of the winning the league title themselves
What an excellent result for us the full 14 points, at one stage we thought we might only take the two points
But the players on the rinks dug in and ground out a result resulting with one of the rinks winning by only two shots
With two of the other rinks winning by only the one shot
But skip Mike Yanez was in great form with his rink winning by 27 shots

AUGUST

Wed 4th ELY - MWL - Away - Result - WON - 89 shots for - 39 shots against. 12 points gained
Sat 7th WATTSTOWN - CML - Away - Result - WON - 78 shots for - 59.25 shots against. 10 points gained
Two of our rinks had close matches finally losing by 2 shots each, with Ron Brown winning his rink comfortably
Mike Yanez winning with a respectable score, his rink taking a maximum 8 shots on the one end
Wed 11th RUMNEY BUCK'S - MWL - Home - Result - WON - 55 shots for - 53 shots against. only 9 points
This was a close fought match with only one rink winning (Mike Yanez) and one drawing (Alan Modley)
Sat 14th BARRY CENTRAL - F - Home - Result - This match has been cancelled Barry Central can't raise a team
Caerphilly Social have agreed to step in at short notice, so we at least save a fixture. Well done to them
Sat 14th Caerphilly Social - F - Home - Result - WON - 92 shots for - 50 shots against, no points as this was a friendly
The outstanding rink this week-end was skipped by Les Hancock who won by 28 shots
THE BEST NEWS THIS WEEK-END WAS THE FACT THAT WE HAVE WON PROMOTION BACK INTO THE FIRST DIVISION
The results went our way, we have promotion with one game to spare, we are leading the league at the present time
Our last match is between us and Ferndale, who ever wins this match will win the league
And be promoted as second division champions
One little piece of light hearted news is the fact that it's a pity the wrong bias cup is not being played for
John Davies and captain Lance Timothy both playing as thirds, bowled wrong biased woods
This event was greeted by much derision by all members playing
Wed 18th FAIRWATER - MWL - Home - Result - WON - 65 shots for - 49 shots against. 12 points gained
I have been informed that we have won our section "A" of the mid-week league
At present we have 185 points with a shots difference of over 450 shots plus
We have one game left to play which is Roath Park next Wednesday
We Did lose two games earlier in the season, but we managed to avenge these defeats later on
I am told that we are to play Llandaff Fields in the play off final on Sunday 12th September at 2.00pm
Sat 21st ST. PETER'S - F - Home - Result - WON - 91 shots for - 59 shots against
Wed 25th ROATH PARK - MWL - Away - Result - Cancelled due to the bad weather
Sat 28th FINAL’S DAY (sponsored by FERRIS COACHES & SPARTA GAS and DEK TEK)
Plus the K GOULD MEMORIAL CUP - Two Wood Competition - HOME - 2.00 PM
This was turned into a rinks match because of the numbers availabe
This is a round robin competition, the team with the greatest combined shots difference wins the trophy
A Trotman, B Harrhy, L Timothy and A Ashman defeated R Sheldon, B Holloway, D Evans and L Hancock 14 shots to 9 in the final
SEE THE RESULTS PAGE for the Final's Day Results

SEPTEMBER

Wed 1st PONTYPRIDD POLICE - F - Home - Result - Cancelled to play Roath Park
Wed 1st ROATH PARK - MWL - Away - Result - WON - 61 shots for - 34 shots against - 12 points
We now have a total of 197 points with a shots difference of 449 shots plus
It has been confirmed that we have won section "A" of the mid-week league
We are to play Llandaff Fields on Sunday 12th September
Sat 4th SENGHENYDD - F - Home - Result - Cancelled to play Ferndale in our last CML game
Sat 4th FERNDALE - CML - Home - Result - WON - 74 shots for - 66 shots against 12 points gained

!!CHAMPIONS!!!!CHAMPIONS!!!!CHAMPIONS!!

As you may have guessed we have won our league
Well done to all especialy the RESERVES who turn up week on week in full dress to offer their support
Also well done to our captain for gaining promotion and winning the mid-week league as well
But Lance is not satisfied as we have matches against Llandaff Fields, Pentyrch and St. Alban's
They are all cup matches, Lance has got the wind beneath his wings. " I want a clean sweep of the trophies
The king of fight backs Alan Ashman sadly failed, but he and his rink kept the score to within 3 shots
Losing 12 shots for to 15 shots against keeping the score low gives the others a better chance
Ian Best and his rink won covincingly by 24 shots for to 17 shots against = 2 points
Mike Yanez and his rink were well behind at one stage but showing the spirit that has shown itself this season
Fought back to go on to win on the very last end taking 2 shots to win 17 shots for 16 shots against = 2 points
Ron Brown and his rink swapped the lead for most of the match, with 2 ends to go the score was 18 all
The rink did not buckle under the pressure because they went on to win the rink 21 shots for to 18 shots against = 2 points
With 6 points for the highest team score. This means we had 12 points to Ferndale's 2 points
Ferndale were obviously disappointed but at least they gained promotion into the first division
